A beautifully toned diobol from Eion

MACEDON. Eion. Circa 480-470 BC. Diobol (Silver, 10 mm, 1.22 g). Goose standing right, head left; above, three pellets. Rev. Incuse square with rough surfaces diagonally divided. AMNG III/2, p. 140, 36. HGC 3, -. SNG ANS 270 var. (differing incuse). Beautifully toned and struck on a lovely oval flan. Slightly granular, otherwise, good very fine.

From the collection of Dr. P. Vogl, privately acquired from Aufhäuser in 1986 (with original ticket).
